Problems with Safety on 1250 West

Here are some photos of the intersection at 1250 West and 820 North during afternoon pick-up time.

There is no crosswalk, no sidewalk, and a very dangerous combination of cars trying to turn onto 820 North at the very place children have to step into the road to go around the stop sign there.

Last year, a large group of parents worked with the neighbors, the city, and the school to try to get a sidewalk placed along this route on city-owned property.  We were told that the school had no money to pay for a sidewalk, so we applied for a grant only to be denied.  Yet just a few months later, the school found enough money to purchase an option on the home on the north end of this street.

It appears that at least financially, high school expansion has been prioritized above the current safety of the elementary school children.
