More comments from neighbors and parents

The risks and complications of having a high school that close to a K-8 campus are horrible. Even aside from the ethical reasons that it would be a poor decision, there are the traffic congestion issues and high school drivers hurrying to class and after school activities as grade-schoolers are trying to walk to and from school. ~ Cari Hansen

The lot is too small to add a Highschool and I don't like the idea of a Highschool right next to all the younger grades. ~ Katie-Beth Thompson

I don't like the idea of High School kids being so near the elementary kids for many reason, most of which have already been mentioned. Parking is already frustrating and will be a big issue, not to mention rude to the neighbors that live there. I like the High School idea, but there must be a better site. ~ Kristen Lund

The expansion of Freedom Academy at the current site is not good for the children attending FA or the neighborhood in which it is located. Already traffic is a nightmare around the school. Imagine the greater volumes of traffic expansion will generate, and the danger of high school drivers not only on the surrounding streets, but especially in a parking lot and adjacent streets frequented by younger FA students. The play area at FA is not large enough the student population as it is. Think about adding hundreds of more high school students. They need some active time too. Don't sacrifice the welfare of FA students and the Rivergrove neighborhood to rush to an ill-conceived plan. FA is a good school, but please expand elsewhere, and make more efforts to make both schools truly community schools that strengthen rather than undermine the community and neighborhoods they are located in. ~ Aaron, Seiko, Alistor, and Mauri Skabelund

Traffic issues have already been a problem before an expansion. The site is just not big enough. Concern about the large age gap between elementary children and high schoolers and the issues that come with that. ~ Judy Breitenstein

The negative impact that additional traffic would have on the surrounding neighborhood is too great. ~ Marsha Judkins

I live on the street where the cars line up to pick up the children. I also live next to the church parking lot where many of the children wait to be picked up. I have seen them climb the fences of the properties next to the church, and they have left trash and have spread the soil in my flower beds to the sidewalk and driveway. It is hazardous to move in and out of my driveway at that time of day. My children are in other schools and I am coming and going at these times to pick them up. I honestly don't see how they received approval traffic-wise for the school they currently have. We are a small, closed-in neighborhood backed up against a hill and with only 2 ways in or out onto roads where the traffic is getting worse everyday. This expansion will only make the problem worse. Also, young children walk the road that Freedom is on to get to a bus to another school, and this road has no sidewalks. It's just a pedestrian accident waiting to happen. ~ Deborah Herrera

This is a horrible idea. I want to know what they feel is adequate in resolving our concerns of the neighborhood. If this moves forward, and is realized, all they are going do is further distance themselves from the community, and respect of the neighbors. They will loose all credibility here, and support for anything in the future they would like to do. All this shows is they really have no concern or care for the surrounding area, people who have lived here 30 years+, and they will just do what they want regardless. I say enough is enough. ~ Alex Lundquist

I'm signing because my kids go to Freedom. I don't want to worry about their safety with a bunch of teenage kids running and driving around in younger kids space! It is not safe, it is inappropriate, it is not professional. It is simply ridiculous. ~ Michelle Terry
